Unlock Yoana for armor or Hattori for swords, then open their Reforge tab. For an old save with missing appearances, first try bringing retained equipment from the stash into Geralt's inventory. The launch-era PC guide reports that old ownership alone may not populate the collection.
For the 2026 Remastered Reforge system. Craftsman access and old-save behavior are attributed to the September 29 PC Gamer guide; the exact minor build and a platform-by-platform old-save test are unknown.
Choose the craftsman for your equipment
| You want to change | Visit | Unlock first |
|---|---|---|
| Armor appearance | Yoana, Crow's Perch in Velen | Complete Master Armorers. Begin by asking Fergus Graem about mastercrafted armor. |
| Sword appearance | Éibhear Hattori, Novigrad, northwest of Glory Gate | Complete Of Swords and Dumplings, started at Hattori's shop. |
Reforge is not offered by every smith. If the tab is absent, first check the craftsman and completed prerequisite. The launch guide reports that Lazare Lafargue does not provide this service, despite crafting grandmaster gear; that is a launch observation, not a permanent claim about future patches.
Missing appearances on an old save
The official Remastered notes describe unlocking appearances by adding equipment and crafting diagrams to your inventory. PC Gamer's launch guide reports that previously owned equipment was not automatically backfilled and suggests moving retained pieces out of the stash.
- Keep a separate save before changing your equipment. Choose one missing appearance you can check easily.
- If you still have the item in your stash, move it into Geralt's inventory. Test one piece first. Owning or wearing a similar-looking item is not evidence that the exact appearance is registered.
- Return to the relevant master craftsman and inspect Reforge. If the appearance is now available, the inventory check worked for that item and save.
- If the item was sold or lost, reacquiring it is the launch guide's alternative. Check the appearance list before spending time on a long gear hunt. There is no verified restore-all-skins shortcut here.
For an item already in your inventory whose skin still fails to appear, keep the save, record the equipment name, craftsman and full build, and use official support. This page does not establish a guaranteed inventory-refresh fix.
Use Reforge and check the result
Open the unlocked craftsman's purchasing/crafting interface and choose Reforge. Select your equipment and an available appearance, inspect the displayed cost, and confirm only when you want that change. The official feature changes appearance while preserving stats; Blood and Wine dyes carry over.
Afterward, check the appearance and item stats. A missing tab, an unavailable skin and a changed dye are distinct checks; changing craftsmen will not necessarily restore a lost old-save skin.

The linked launch-era walkthrough illustrates the service. It supplements the source guide; it is not proof that the old-save behavior works on every build.
