Best Witcher 3 armor: choose a school for your fighting style

Compare Cat, Griffin, Wolf, Ursine and Manticore by playstyle before collecting diagrams or copying an old damage build.

Choose armor for the actions you use most, not a universal “best” label. Cat suits a light melee direction, Griffin a Sign-focused direction, Wolf a mixed approach and Ursine a defensive heavy setup. Manticore is a later Toussaint alternative associated with alchemy.

Compare the item, not just the set name

  1. Check your level and the required region access.
  2. Choose the exact tier: standard, an upgrade tier or a Legendary NG+ item.
  3. Read the current armor weight, resistances and bonuses on the item.
  4. Compare them with your active skills and the fights causing trouble.

A diagram route for standard gear does not provide every upgrade diagram. An excellent late-game set is also a poor immediate answer if your character cannot reach its region or craft its pieces yet.

Old rankings and new skills

Remastered reworks the skill tree and returns spent points on imported characters. We do not have a controlled current-build comparison establishing one school as strongest at every level. Use the build-planning checklist before copying an older alchemy or Sign loadout.

If the problem is only appearance, Reforge may let you keep the desired statistics with a different skin. Spending resources on a completely different armor set is not the only cosmetic route.
